Who this is

Pip is the hedgehog with a tiny berry sitting on his spines. He is the smallest member of the cast and tends to be found last in the hide-and-seek worlds.

What is in the picture

The spiny cap across the top is drawn as one big scalloped shape rather than a hundred spikes, which is deliberate — a child can fill it in one go. The berry on top is a single dot of colour and makes a nice finishing touch.

Colouring it with a toddler

The cap is the biggest single area in the set. A thick crayon covers it in about four strokes, which is satisfying at two.

Thick crayons beat pencils at this age — they need no grip strength and they do not break when a child leans on them. Expect the first few attempts to be one colour scribbled across everything; staying inside a line comes later, and it comes on its own.

Colour it on screen instead

Pip is also in the PlayKiko colouring game, where tapping an area fills it and nothing goes outside the lines. Useful on a train, where crayons are a mistake.
