What it is

A shape sorter is the toy almost every toddler meets first: a block, a hole, and the small discovery that only one of them fits. PlayKiko's version keeps that idea and puts it on a wooden board your child can touch directly.

Pieces sit at the bottom of the screen. Your child drags one towards the pegs, and when it lines up it drops into place with a soft wooden knock. Pieces that don't belong simply slide back — nothing buzzes, nothing is marked wrong.

How to play

Pick up a piece with a finger and move it to a peg. Let go anywhere near the right spot and the piece settles itself — toddler aim doesn't have to be precise.

As the board fills, the stacks grow taller and the colours line up. When the last piece lands, a small sound says the round is done, and the next arrangement appears.

What it builds

Sorting by shape is early mathematics before anyone calls it that. To place a piece, a child has to look at it, hold its outline in mind, and compare it against the openings — the beginning of classification and spatial reasoning.

Dragging a piece across the screen and releasing it on target is also real fine-motor work. The pincer grip, the steady hand, the pause before letting go: all of it transfers to a pencil later.

Ages and pace

Most children start managing this somewhere around two, and get genuinely good at it by three. Younger players can still enjoy moving pieces around — nothing in the game requires them to be right.

There is no timer and no score. A round ends when the board is full, and that is the only goal.

Playing together

It works well side by side. Naming the colours out loud, asking "where does this one go?", letting your child answer with their hands rather than words — that back-and-forth is where most of the learning actually happens.
